Hullavington Village SurveyWhere were you?A presentation of the Hullavington Village Survey results was presented to the parish on Tuesday 16th November by the Survey Group of the Parish Council. Disappointingly, only 30 to 40 villagers attended. A great effort had been made to canvas the needs and thoughts of the children at the Hullavington school and the under 17s in general. Sadly only one or two parents with children of that age were there to hear the results. Pity about this because much interesting information came from the exercise and it is only the parents who can lead in taking the message forward by translating the obvious need into materiel solutions. The main points were that the 5 to 11 year olds overwhelmingly liked living in the village and used comforting words to describe why they like living here; eg: its safe, peaceful, friendly. They also had their dislikes and gave out a clear message that there was not enough for them to do and they wanted a play ground for the older kids. They also want a drop in centre where they can do activities and just meet up with friends.. If any parents are willing to come forward to help in this area, please contact us through this site. The main issues emanating from the adult survey were: road safety, the importance of our local amenities such as shop, garage, post office, The Star, coal yard etc; housing, the cemetery car park, business and employment opportunities within the village. The knowledge gained from the survey will be used by the Parish Council to inform its decision making process, generate an action plan to take things forward and to put people of like interest in touch with each other so that they can form interest groups. Many villagers had expressed a desire to form interest groups for a variety of subjects and activities. Activity lists were available at the presentation for people to identify themselves and the interests they would be keen to be involved with. Those present did so. If anybody else wishes to post an interest please do so via this web site. The activities listed were:
