MALMESBURY CARNIVAL OPEN STUDIOS
Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st August Liz Parry-Williams will be opening her home to visitors as part of the Carnival open studio weekend. Liz lives at The Old Surgery, 20 The Street. Artists from Malmesbury and the surrounding area will be letting people into their studios and their homes to see their work. Tickets will be sold only in advance at the tourist information centre in Malmesbury. With the ticket, you will be given a brochure that explains who the artists are, what sort of work they create, and a map to show you how to find their studios. Tickets are £5 per person, £9 per couple and £4 senior concession. Accompanied children are free. Last year, Malmesbury carnival raised over £10,000 for local charities and good causes. This year, 39 events are spread over 16 days. Supporting any of these will help this years fund raising.
The Malmesbury school exhibition is open on Saturday 20 only, from 11am-2pm. Nine artists venues will be open during the two days, including; Elizabeth Parry-Williams (paintings) Hullavington, Kim Simmens (paintings) Lea, Avril Vaughan (metallic sculpture) Long Newnton, and in Malmesbury itself; The Malmesbury Art Society (various media), Janie Thomas (garden design), Nat Morley (woodcuts/paintings), Barry Gustard (paintings), Malmesbury school art students (various media) and Mary Clarke (silk paintings). The weekend provides an ideal opportunity to see local artists’ work, and to ask questions about their techniques, ideas and inspirations. Liz would love to see you – it will be a very long weekend without visitors! Materials will be provided at 20 The Street if you wish to have a go at painting or drawing.
