Message from Sergeant Martin Alvis
I would like to introduce myself as the new Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant for
Malmesbury, Wootton Bassett and Cricklade. This is a new role for the area
reinforcing the Wiltshire Police commitment to Neighbourhood Policing.
I am no stranger to the area, having lived in the Malmesbury are since 1976; I
joined the Specials in Malmesbury in 1986, then the Regulars at the beginning of
1991. I was a beat Officer in Malmesbury for 12 years when I left 4 years ago on
promotion to Sergeant at Chippenham.
Over the last 18 months I have set up the Neighbourhood Policing teams in
Chippenham. We have had some excellent results working in partnership with other
agencies including the volunteer sector. I am passionate about the area I live
and work in and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. It is my
intention that we will continue to make this area an even safer place than it
already is. I have listed some of my objectives that will run alongside our day
to day Policing commitments and would welcome you to comment on them and join me
in making the community that you live in an even safer place to live and work.
* Listening to the needs of our community.
* Targeting persistent offenders and bringing them to justice at the earliest
opportunity.
* Using partners and diversionary tactics to steer young people away from crime
and anti social behaviour.
* Disrupting and targeting the use of illegal substances.
* Reducing all violent crime.
* Reducing the fear of crime.
Please visit our new improved Wiltshire Web site and click on Policing in your
area. My email address is

Best wishes
Sgt Martin Alvis
