Hullavington Ramblers
Hullavington Ramblers’
social evening will be in the Village Hall tomorrow from 8:30pm. The
date of the next walk has been changed to 29 March to avoid Mothers’
Day. It will be a circular walk of around 5 miles from Kington St
Michael, with an archaeological perspective, as the walk is
organised by Mark Collard. For further details, contact Bob Fenner
on (01666) 837320.
Serendipity Coffee
Morning
Coffee Mornings at
Serendipity have raised £400 for Dorothy House Hospice in memory of
Bill Constable. Do join in from 10 to 12am on Fridays at Serendipity
for home made cakes and chat, where the new charity will be the Air
Ambulance.
Poetry Group
There was a good turn-out
for the ebullient farmer poet, John Osborne, last week when he read
from his published poems, and sang nostalgic songs with his
accompanist Sheila, at the Village Hall. The featured poet at the
next meeting, April 1, will be Elizabeth Barrett Browning with the
theme of “The Zoo” for poetry writers. The annual limerick
competition, held in memory of Rita Croft, will be for limericks
which feature drink this year. Eileen Fry (01666) 838793 can give
you all the details.
Hullavington’s Got Talent

Eleven-year-old Rhys
Tucker, from The Parklands, Hullavington, has hired Hullavington
Village Hall for a talent contest in aid of Comic Relief on Saturday
28 March. Rhys, a pupil at Malmesbury School, is an enthusiastic
singer himself, and a member of Hullavington’s Genesis Choir. Proud
mum Hilary Tucker said that Rhys decided to organise this by
himself. “Mum gave me a bit of a hand to book the hall,” Rhys
admitted.
The contest is open to
people of all ages and will be divided into two groups, adults and
children. Two well-known local figures have been roped in to help
with the judging. The costs for the evening will be £1 for
contestants, £5 for adults in the audience and £2 for children.
Tickets can be obtained by ringing Rhys (01666) 837492 after 4:30pm
on schooldays.
