Gigs, Giggles and Gossip
Rosemary Squires is coming
to entertain us at Hullavington Village Hall, along with celebrity
pianist Brian Dee, on Saturday 28 February at 8pm. Together, they
celebrate 60 years of popular song with anecdotes, monologues, music
and song. These two artistes each have an international reputation
and are visiting under the auspices of Rural Art Wiltshire with a
family show of music and fun. The bar opens at 7:30pm and drinks
will also be on sale in the interval. Tickets, with concessions for
families, are available from Anna Durrant (01666) 837569.
Poetry Group
Aspiring Hullavington poets
produced a range of poignant poems for this month’s theme, ”Love and
Death”. The poems of Emily Dickinson also fitted into the theme and
gave plenty of food for thought despite their brevity. Next month
will be a first for the group, when live guest poet, John Osborne
MBE, will be performing his poems in the village Hall on Wednesday 4
March at 2pm. His witty narrative finds amusement in the everyday
life of a farmer, and it will be an entertaining afternoon for
everyone, even if poetry is not always to your taste. Contact Eileen
Fry (01666) 838793 for more details.
Hullavington Ramblers
It is a busy weekend for
Hullavington Ramblers, with their social evening in the Village Hall
tomorrow from 8:30pm, and a walk from Calne to Chippenham on Sunday
15 February. Meet at Chippenham bus station in good time
to catch the 10.51 bus (No. 55A) to Calne. The
distance is 6 miles, mostly through open
countryside along the old railway line from Calne to Chippenham,
arriving back around 1 pm. Alan Roberts (01249) 446465 is
arranging the walk.
