Star Dogs.

Hullavington Dog Show, a new
venture linked to the Village Show, attracted over 30 dogs and
around 50 people last Saturday at the Star Inn, despite the weather.
The event was sponsored by the Star Inn and by
Robin Chiang who runs
the dog training classes at Hullavington Village Hall on Saturday
mornings.
Cameron Scott at the Star Inn
provided three special trophies for Hullavington based entrants.
The winner of the Star Dog Trophy was Jackie Henson’s rescue dog,
Sky, who helps to deliver the papers round Hullavington in the
mornings. The Star Dog Handler was Phil Neal, who entered 5
beautifully behaved Japanese fighting dogs, which have been trained
to pull sledges as each dog is capable of pulling four times its own
weight. The Star Junior Dog Handler was James Lamont with Saffron.

Poetry
Group

This month’s poet at
Hullavington Poetry group was Ted Hughes. Members enjoyed his vivid
and concise descriptions. Despite the challenging theme, several
members were inspired to write poems about the demon within
ourselves. The next meeting of the group will be on September 1,
when the poet will be Keates and the theme will be Autumn.
