Primary School
Friday morning coffee drinkers at
Serendipity in the Street have raised £480 for the Embu Primary School
in Kenya. The next fund-raising project is the Church Clock, which has
needed repairs, and plans are afoot to install an electric winding
system which will update the clock and avoid the trudge up the tower for
the winder.
Poetry Group
Albert Lindsay let the discussion of A E Houseman’s poetry, and the
group were surprised by the variety of poems which were read. Several
members had penned works about Celebration, and Eileen’s golden wedding
seems to have inspired the writing. The next poet, for 6 August, will be
Roger McGough, with the theme of “At the Barbecue” for aspiring poets.
Garden Waste Bins
The garden waste bin scheme is to continue in Hullavington. If you have
found the service valuable in avoiding trips to the tip over the past
year, now is the time to renew your subscription. New bins are available
for garden waste at a cost of £40 for the first bin and £14 for any
subsequent bins, by phoning the Waste Recycling Hotline on 01249 706693.
Village Voices
Village Voices ended their singing season with a short performance at
Nick and Eileen Fry’s Golden Wedding. There will be other opportunities
for a capella singing throughout the summer, with the next to watch out
for, the Big Summer Sing at Solsbury Hill on 20 July. Lifts will be
available from Hullavington for walking and singing overlooking Bath and
the Avon Valley. See
