Film Club
Please note that
April’s film
will be shown on Wednesday16 April, as the hall will be required
for the Annual Parish Meeting on the following week. Arrive at 7
for refreshments, with the curtain up at 7:30 prompt.
Poetry Group
Peter Mitchell led the
Poetry Group to discuss the work of Gerard Manley Hopkins, who
had taught classics at his old school. Five of the group read
their poems about clouds. The Rita Croft Limerick Competition
closes on 6 May, so get writing and submit limericks to Eileen
Fry, with your name and address on a separate sheet of paper.
Next meeting, on May 7, will be to share the poetry of Edward
Thomas, with the theme of “The flowers that bloom in the spring”
if you would like to try your hand at writing your own poems.
Sarah will be
Singing
Avebury Vocal
Ensemble,(formerly Nubiss), who performed in Hullavington Church
for last year’s Harfest, will be singing at Malmesbury Abbey on
3 May at 7:30. They will sing Bach’s Jesu, Meine Freude and a
Hassler Mass. Tickets, (£6 each) are available from the Abbey
Bookshop, or from Sarah Slarke who will be singing with the
choir.
Hams for Harfest
The Harfest Committee are
seeking volunteers for small acting roles in short, one-act
plays as part of this year’s HarFest programme. Previous acting
experience is not necessary, just a willingness to have a bit of

prepare to impress family and friends with your thespian
qualities.
Jolly Tots meet the Firemen
Hullavington’s Jolly Tots
and Happy Caterpillars pre-school will be combining to visit
Malmesbury Fire Station on Tuesday April 15.

If you have old photos or
items of interest for a book of memories for Jean Coram, who was
Hullavington’s Postmistress when the Post Office was located at
London House, please contact Jenny Goulding at
4 Frog Lane, who is compiling a book
to cheer Mrs Coram through her convalescence.
A Soldier’s Life
in the Trenches
Male or female, you are
invited to Hullavington
WI on Wednesday April 16 at 2pm in the
Village Hall to hear Mr S Williams give his talk on “A soldier’s
life in the trenches” The cost for visitors is £2.50.

bowls them over!
Hullavington Short Mat
Bowls group are approaching the finals in the Malmesbury League.
Jonathan Mace, of Parklands who represented the group in the
singles match was pipped to the post by Kington Langley.
We’ll Meet Again.
We’ll meet again, and this
is where and when. At Hullavington Village Hall, the dancing
group are organising a forties evening of singing, dancing or
just listening to Eric tinkling the ivories on June 27. Tickets
