Hullavington Ramblers

Nine ramblers set out on a chilly bank holiday morning to walk to Corston across the fields. They startled a pair of small deer, and, despite the mud, were able to appreciate the trees just coming into leaf and the wide margins of the newly ploughed fields. Two new footbridges, not previously crossed by the group, were traversed. Lunch was enjoyed at the pub and 8 walkers returned on foot.

Looking at Paintings.

‘An Introduction to Looking at Paintings’ is the title of a WEA course to be held in Hullavington Village Hall on Saturday 12 April. Understanding pictures is for everyone, not just specialists, and course tutor Dr Jennifer Sheppard will develop your confidence in discussing paintings. Pre-booking is essential, from David and Muriel Bridge on (01666) 502729.

Home Workers Lunch Group.

Home-workers of Hullavington, who would like the chance for some mid-week conversation with a group of people in similar circumstances, are invited to join us for lunch or a bowl of Pauline’s excellent home-made soup and some lively conversation at The Star Inn on Wednesdays, from 1-2pm.

Local Policeman is Out of Order.

Hullavington’s drama-loving policeman, Special Constable Richard Warren, is Out of Order when he appears in a play with that name at Sherston Village Hall from Wednesday to Saturday, 9-14 April. Tickets can be obtained from Sherston Post Office or (01666) 840092.

Clothes and Jewellery

Stroll along to the Star Inn on Monday 7 April at 7:30 if you like fashion, for a preview of this season’s capsule wardrobe, what to pack for Terminal 5 and a look at Sandie Bedford’s individual hand crafted jewellery.

Film Club

Action, violence and international skulduggery came to Hullavington Village Hall last Wednesday when the film club showed a James Bond movie. The audience sat round in café style munching home-made Easter biscuits and shared a thoroughly enjoyable village evening. Be warned, next month’s film club will be a week early, on 16 April when lovers of Jane Austen will not be disappointed. Sarah Harmer (01666) 837704 is the person to contact if you would like to know more.
