Coffee Morning at Serendipity. Every Friday 10 am until 12 noon. Come
along for coffee and cakes in a convivial atmosphere. It gives you a
chance to relax, meet up with other villagers and get to know what's
going on. All that and the money made goes to local charities

Wednesday 20th February was definitely an afternoon to remember for
Hullavington WI when Bill Alexander entertained them with his tales of
'Life in the Theatre'. His Salvation Army upbringing gave him an
excellent opportunity to entertain which he delighted in. However, when
at university, he turned his attention to directing and on leaving
university he got his chance at the Bristol Old Vic. He has since worked
in a number of big theatres around the country and is now freelance. He
loves his work and this came through in his enthusiasm when talking.
Earlier on in February 10 members went to Bristol to watch the recording
of 2 episodes of 'Deal or No Deal' with Noel Edmonds. It was a very
interesting afternoon and the programmes will be broadcast in April. 4
members visited the British Museum for the Terracotta Army exhibition
which was thoroughly enjoyed .

WI meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 2pm in the
Village Hall. New members and visitors are always welcome.

For The Kids. "The Call of The Loon Bird" will be performed in the
village hall on Saturday 1st March, at 4pm. It's a Rural Arts Wiltshire
production and is a collection of native American stories for children
aged 5 to 12 years old. The show is fantastic, with superb scenery and
lighting. And a display of puppetry that sends the children's
imaginations to a new level. This is absolutely superb and not to be
missed. For tickets please contact Anna Durant on 01666 837569.

Art Appreciation Want to learn how to appreciate art? Then why not
come along to the WEA day course in the village hall on Saturday 12th
April. The course is titled "An Introduction to Looking at Paintings"
Understanding pictures is for everyone, not just the specialists. Anyone
can have a view and express an opinion about paintings . You just need
the confidence . This course will get you on the road to the pleasure of
a lifetime. The course tutor is Dr Jennifer Shepherd. Bookings for this
day class are being taken now, so if you are interested please contact
David or Muriel Bridge on 01666502729 or email wea@hullavington.info

Hullavington  Primary School  played host for 2 days to teachers
from Italy, Poland and Sweden. The younger children entertained the
visitors with traditional nursery rhymes, songs and games, whilst the
older ones gave performances on the piano and other musical instruments.
The visits are part of the Comenius programme organised by the EU to
promote understanding between different European countries. It's not all
about teachers either, the Hullavington pupils exchange letters and
cards with pupils from schools in Fagersta (Sweden), Piacenza (Italy)
and Biale Blota (Poland).

Hullavington Ramblers This months Ramble took place on Sunday 24th
Feb. It was a 5 mile morning walk, led by Mark, and was a sort of meet
the ancestors event around the prehistoric monuments of the Avebury
area, with Mark providing an enjoyable commentary. The route led us past
the man made mound of Silbury Hilll, then up to the West Kennet Long
Barrow with its fine views of Silbury and the Kennet valley below. From
here we retraced our steps to the Kennet and followed it to the
Sanctuary at Overton. Crossing the road here to get to the Ridgeway can
be a pain, but not today and we were soon striding along the Ridgeway
before joining the processional Kennet Avenue back to Avebury. The next
walk is on Sunday 16th March and is a 5 to 6 mile morning walk around
Castle Combe.
