Village London Trip

No seats were spare on the London Coach last Saturday when Hullavington folks enjoyed a full day in London. Thanks are due to Melvyn Pickering who organised the trip with his normal efficiency and good humour, and who also provided the entertainment on the outward journey. If you would like to see photos of past village outings in 1908 and 1935, take a look at the Village Website on www.hullavington.info.

Carols and Punch at Holly House

An evening of Carols and Punch will take place at Holly House on Sunday 2 December at 6.30. All are welcome to this annual event to start the Christmas festivities. Proceeds will go to Care at Christmas.

Hullavington Women’s Institute.

A record number of guests enjoyed last Wednesday’s talk at Hullavington Women’s Institute when Mike Gann illustrated his trip ”Cruising down the Amazon” with films of his fascinating experience. The contrast between the opera House in Manaus and the villagers living in stilt houses was quite dramatic, and the WI ladies now know how to avoid piranha fish when herding cows across the river, if ever called upon to do so.

The competition was won by Janet Mitchell with Alison Ayliffe as runner-up, and the next meeting will be the Christmas Party on December 19. Members are reminded about the early start time at noon.

Village Hall Christmas Party

There will be a party for all at the Village Hall on Friday 14 December. A wide variety of music for listening and dancing will be provided by Eric Gough from 8pm, and light refreshments will be served. Tickets can be obtained from Liz (01666) 837713, Bev (01666) 837169 or Una (01666) 837334.

Poetry Group

Michael Rosen is the poet selected for study at the poetry group on December 5 in the Village Hall, and participants will read their own poems about ‘Winter’. Do come along, whether to join in or just enjoy listening to a wide selection of poems.
