Christmas Shopping Evening
The Annual
Christmas Shopping Evening at The Old School will take place this Friday
9 November, from 7 to 10pm. It will be in aid of Hullavington School HSA.
Mulled wine and mince pies will create a seasonal atmosphere, whilst you
can choose something for everyone, from stalls including books, cards,
jewellery, decorations, candles, plants, toys, edible gifts, Glam
Originals, and much more
Hullavington Christmas Market
Hullavington
Village Hall buzzed with activity on Saturday when the WI were kept very
busy serving soup to shoppers at the Christmas Market. “Guess the name
of the Bear” was won by Nick Fry, who was not able to man his stall due
to illness, so we hope the bear will speed his recovery. The
hall benefited from the day to the tune of over £160 pounds.
Serendipity Coffee Morning
In
September, the Serendipity Coffee Mornings raised £200 for Hullavington
News. There will be a ‘Children in Need’ Special in November,
but otherwise,
October to December is for ZANE to
help the national emergency in
Zimbabwe. All are welcome from 10am to
noon on Fridays.
Golden Threads
Di
Hamblin spoke to the Golden threads group last Wednesday, about her
recent trip to Uganda.
A highlight of the talk was the dress she brought back with her, made by
a sewing student. It was a neat little sundress, with beautiful
workmanship, but was made out of brown paper, as the students could not
afford to use fabric to make up their samples.
Church Gift Day Appeal
The
Church of St Mary Magdalene
has been a focal point of the village for almost 900 years. A
significant sum of money has been donated to provide extra facilities
for the church, with a modern heating system and toilet facilities being
a priority, but annual maintenance costs are high. On Saturday 10
November the church will be open from 10am to 1pm for coffee and to
receive contributions towards the upkeep of this ancient building.
Remembrance Day Service
The
Service of Remembrance at
Hullavington Church
will be at 10:50am on 11 November. Please arrive in good time.
Ramblers Group
Hullavington Ramblers consisted of 22 people and two dogs for their
six mile circular walk, from the Goddard Arms pub at
Clyffe Pypard. The route ran along the foot of the Marlborough Downs
then ascended steeply to
Bincknoll Castle. The
walk was fairly damp underfoot, and the sun made a brief guest
appearance at around noon, not soon enough to burn off the mists which
masked the views, but soon enough for the group to enjoy the pleasures
of an al fresco lunch.
