Fashions for Williams Charity
All targets were met at the Fashion open day on Saturday. Williams
Syndrome is quite rare, but the day enabled three young people with this
chance genetic condition to meet, have a chat and exchange coping
strategies. Jo, who suffers from Williams Syndrome, has talked on
national radio and to medical groups about the realities of the
condition, and was a particularly welcome visitor from Nailsea. An
impressive £143 was sent to the Williams Syndrome Foundation to aid
research and family support. Many thanks to all the locals who
contributed to the success of the day. The raffle was won by Kathy
Mallaband.
Verse and Worse
(part of
HarFest 2007)
Thursday heralded Hullavington’s first
Verse and Worse evening. The
Village Hall was packed for a poetry reading from the
Hullavington
Poetry Group. Many of the items were self-penned when members of the
poetry group read diverse offerings. The local limericks by Rita Croft,
dedicated to well-known personalities in the village, received special
appreciation, as the poets ended this part of the program on a hilarious
note with a short selection of limericks. The second element of the
evening was a one-act play produced by Bob Fenner, and the entertainment
concluded with the mellifluous voice of Stroud-based jazz singer Jeanne
Marlow, accompanied by our own Eric Gough. The poetry group resumes its
regular meetings on Wednesday 3 October when the poet of the month is
Walter de la Mere and the theme for aspiring poets is “home”.

cost of the coach is divided amongst the passengers. To reserve a place

Harvest Supper and Barn Dance
The Harvest Supper and Barn Dance was a complete sell-out on Friday,
when Malcolm Mace led the participants through a myriad of square
dancing combinations.
Star Turns
Hullavington’s Harfest Music and Arts Festival concluded with the
Harvest Festival in the Church, followed by lunch and Star Turns at the
Star Inn. The afternoon was an amazing celebration of the life of the
village, with a large cross-section of the community munching, enjoying
the music and conversation in the garden, whilst the children busied
themselves in the play area.
Norton Village Party
Don’t forget the Norton Village Party on Sunday 23 September at the Vine
Tree Garden. For more details contact Fee on (01666) 837967.
