Parish Council
The next meeting of Hullavington Parish Council will be on Wednesday 19 September in the Village Hall. The chairman and vice-chairman are William Harmer and Fraser Haffenden respectively, with Councilors Maggie Bawden, Maggie Dyson, Eric Gough, Sheila Greenman, David Jones and Mick Morgan. There is still a vacancy for one Parish Councilor, so do contact the Clerk if you feel you could volunteer for this. The new Clerk is Bruce Matthews, (0117) 932 2305, who is also the responsible financial officer. The meeting starts at 7:30 and members of the public are welcome to attend.

Somerset Coal Canal Ramble
Hullavington Ramblers have rescheduled a walk of around four mile along the Somerset Coal Canal for Sunday September 9. The walk will be guided by Adrian Tuddenham who will explain a bit about the history and workings of the canal, and who hopes to be able to show features of the canal not normally accessible to the public. Adrian will bring hand-outs to explain the complex industrial archaeology of the site, so please let Maggie Dyson know if you will be joining us.

The walk will start at 10:30am near the thatched cottage end of "The Avenue", west of the church in Combe Hay.  A pub lunch is planned and the walk should finish by mid-afternoon. More information is available at www.hullavington.info/

Village Cricket Match
An old tradition of a Bank Holiday cricket match has been revived in Hullavington. Originally teams were found from the two pubs in the village, but this ended with the closure of the Queen's Head. This year's teams were the Star Inn v. Challengers.  The match was organized at Butlers' Field by Antony and PaulineHudd, who laid on a buffet and bar. When asked who won, Mr Hudd replied "The village! The Star team won the match but the village had a smashing day. The match was well supported, the weather was beautiful, it was a great family day and was all positive". Toilets for the event were loaned by George Wimpey.

Annual Show
Don't forget to enter your produce, cookery or handcrafts for the Annual Show on 1 September. Classes are open to all residents of the village. Jebbie Hewit will accept entry forms at London House until 6:30pm on 31 August.
