Long Weekend in Bruges (Belgium)
February 2005
We are planning a long weekend (3 days 2 nights) in the Belgium city of
Bruges. You may recall we did this in Autumn 2002 and it was a great success.
Many of you have asked us to repeat it and we will do so if there is enough
interest.
The plan is to use Bakers Dolphin again. We would depart Hullavington, by luxury
coach, early Friday morning 18th Feb 2005 and travel via the tunnel to arrive in
Bruges by early to mid afternoon.. We stay in the centre of this small medieval
city where most everything is within walking distance. In fact it is a very
pedestrian friendly city with much to see and visit.. We also have full use of
the coach during our stay and can use it for excursions at no additional cost
other than entrance fees. Bruges is renowned for its excellent food and, by UK
standards, it is very cheap to dine out. Bruges is also famous for it’s canals,
museums, art galleries, chocolate, lace making and beer. Opportunities to visit
the places where theses things are made or brewed is possible. There will also
be the opportunity to visit a drinks warehouse on the return journey to stock up
your cellars.
The cost will depend on the numbers who come and will be between £156 and £165
per person. There is a £21 supplement for single rooms per person per night (£42
total for the 2 nights)
The price includes:
- transport from Hullavington to Bruges and return in a luxury coach with WC,
reclining seats, tea and coffee making facilities and choice of pick up
points.
- Channel crossing via the tunnel
- 3 days 2nights accommodation at the Acadamie Hotel in Bruges city centre on
a bed and breakfast basis
- Full use of the coach for excursions (entrance fees excluded)
If you are interested please contact Melvyn Pickering (837910) or Paul
Hadley (837096) ASAP. At the moment we need a couple more people to make the
trip viable. But from past experience we are likely to get more interest
during the coming weeks. For those who expressed an interest, we will be
asking you soon for a firm commitment
