New Years Eve at The
Star
The New Years Eve 1970’s fancy dress at The Star was a huge
success.
Doors opened at the usual time, with people drifting in throughout the
evening in various guises. There was a collection of hippies, big hair and short
skirts. By Midnight, the pub was packed with villagers who wanted
to see the New Year in with their local friends. There was a great party
atmosphere all night. First prize for fancy dress went to Graham Stokes who came
disguised as Ozzy Osborne. It took me three days to get rid of the tattoos! The
prize was donated by Jo Berry, and was very gratefully received, as were the
mince pies which were circulated to all shortly after midnight.
After The Star closed, many people carried on partying in various homes across
the village until the early hours, so
I guess that New Years day dawned very quietly in Hullavington.
A very Happy New Year to all.
