Hullavington HarFest 2006 If anyone has any photos or video taken at of any of the HarFest events, even those taken with mobile phone, we would like to get some copies to make a record of it all for the website. So if you can help please get in touch (contact) The Hullavington
HarFest took place between
the 9th to 17th Sept. This was a series of 9 concerts and workshops played and
performed, in many instances, to sell out audiences. Naked Voices started the
ball rolling and what a star performance they gave. Speaking to one of them
them after the gig, he said how impressed they were with the New Hullavington
Village hall and the wonderful reception they got. In fact
Chris Samuels, one of the Naked Voices, plans to
start a voice workshop in the village and, who knows, we may get yet another
first rate choir for the next Hullavington HarFest.
Later in the week we had the Wilde Bunch with Dani and Will Wilde playing the blues to a full house and bringing the house down. But there was still so much more to come like the excellent jazz session with Eric Gough and Jeane Marlowe also playing to a full house at the Star skittle alley. The audience refused to allow them to stop playing. Dave, the Star landlord, plans to invite the Wilde Bunch and Eric and Jeane back, so keep your eyes peeled for this. The youth choir, Genesis, played to a large audience in the church and greatly impressed. And, who knows, we may well have been watching the Jamie Cullum's and Dani & Will Wilde's of the future. The Sultanas of Swing, who the Rev Andrew Evans introduced as the Sultans of Sin ( I understand their bookings have now trebled), gave us a wonderful session of swing style songs and were very warmly received. All this and there was yet more quality concerts and sessions to come; like: the dance workshop with Lydia Wheeler, the excellent performance from the NUBISS chamber Choir, the fun of the Barn dance in Vic's barn. And what about that BandFest; yes yet another sell out, with The Rock Of Life Band, Pete Malaband's scratch group to fill in for the Stilts, The Wilde Bunch and, to finish, The HarFest Band which had us all rocking in the aisles and roaring for more. On Sunday the church was full to bursting and, to round off the HarFest, there was Music on The Lawn at Holly House. What a terrific 9 day festival this was. Full marks to the organizers and performers and let's hope they can be persuaded to make it a regular thing. Let's also not forget the programme sponsor Serendipity B&B and of course St Mary's Church who provided the inspiration for it all, plus Mt Zion church who provided the Rock of Life Band and so much more. Well done and thank you all for giving us such an unforgettable village experience |
