Old & Past Hullavingtonians 2
The following photos were kindly provided by Linda
Durno (nee Yardley) who once lived in Hullavington with her parents
Arthur and Margery at Eton House. Linda has many fond memories of her life in
Hullavington,
especially events like the Hullavington Carnival. It is always good to see old
photos and to try and put names to the faces. Linda has made a bold attempt to
do this and if you can help fill in the gaps it
would be very useful for us. Also if you have any old photos of Hullavington and/or Hullavingtonians past and present, please do share them with
us. As you probably know Linda now lives in Kington St Michael and
manages their village web site. She also keeps a watchful eye on our web
site. Many thanks Linda and if you find any more photos in your attic
please let us have them

Is this the WI?
Linda believes this may be a WI event. In her own
words she says that "judging by the look of my mum, I think it was in the late 1940's possibly
early 50's. From left - Molly Gale (nee Greenman), Alice Saunders (used to live
at 1 Jubilee Cottages now 75 The Street I think - anyway, the end one next to
Royal Field Close), Margery Yardley (nee Saunders), ?, ?, possibly Muriel
Saunders who is my aunt (nee Connor) in white dress, ?"

Eton House
Eton House was owned by Linda Yardley's parents, Arthur
and Marj Yardley. The photo was taken in 1982/83 as the site was being cleared to make
way for Eton Close. You can see the houses in Royal Field Close in the
background. The plot was 2/3 of an acre. The house was called Eton House (as
indeed is no. 1 Eton Close, which Linda's parents subsequently lived in).
