In 1935 Bell Farm was bought by H.M. Government for military purposes and RAF Hullavington began; so the centuries of farming the land of Bell Farm came to an end, except that some of our neighbouring farmers still take a little annual hay or other crop from some spare fields.

We are grateful to Elizabeth Parry-Williams of Hullavington for making these drawings of the still-existing Barn and the now-demolished Farm house and Shepherd's cottage. However, one of the last shepherds of Bell Farm is still alive and lives in Lower Stanton with his wife - Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hale - and they tell us of the old days on Bell Farm. Also, Mr. Henry Tanner of Stanton St. Quintin, used to live in the farmhouse and he remembers helping his father and the employed men to run the farm before 1935
