Hullavington Village Hall ManagementCommitteeReport January 2011As we start a new year the Village Hall Management Committee would like to thank all those in the village who continued to support the use of the Village Hall throughout 2010 and we look forward to your continued support throughout 2011 Hall Christmas DecorationsOnce again we thank Grace Jones for the beautiful Christmas arrangement that was produced for the Foyer over the Christmas period. It was truly spectacular. We also thank members of the Hall Committee for putting up the Hall Christmas decorations and in particular volunteers Jeff and Jake Simpkins and Jimmy Greenman for helping us get them up in time for the Mount Zion Christmas Dinner on December 3rd and then taking them down again in January.Hall Bookings In the last newsletter there was a reminder of the dilemma the Hall Booking Administrator faces in knowing how many Saturdays each year to keep free to cater for those village residents who might want to book the hall during the year, but at the same time accepting bookings from new hall users that offer “services” for the general village population by organisers who are not resident within, or part of, the community of Hullavington. Therefore we again suggest that if you as an individual feel that you might like to book the hall in 2011 for a special event, particularly for a Saturday, would you please give it due consideration and try and book as soon as possible. Dog Mess!! Despite the notices round the village and the general awareness these days that dog owners should remove dog mess, sadly we are noticing it again in the hall car park and even right outside the front door! Also on the path from Green’s Close to the back of the hall. Our concern is that it could be walked into the hall, where it could then pose a very serious health risk, particularly for the young children using the hall. Please, please could dog owners remove any mess around the Hall left by their dog and deposit it in the bin just outside of the main road entrance to the Hall. Lights still being left on in the Village HallWe continue to get reports of lights being left on over night in the Hall, particularly the toilet lights, but recently other areas. Could we again emphasise the need for users to check lights and heaters before leaving the hall. The 200 Club – Membership Vacancies The 200 Club continues to provide an extremely valuable source of income to the Village Hall. At the present time there are some places available so if you are not a member please be considering it. Cash prizes every month. Contact John Greenwood on 01666 837227 for further information.
