Hullavington Village Hall ManagementCommitteeReport Nov/Dec 2009The Village Hall Management Committee As we start a new year the Village Hall Management Committee would like to thank all those in the village who continued to support the use of the Village Hall throughout 2009 and we look forward to your continued support throughout 2010.No Increase in Hall Booking fees from 1st April 2010As indicated in the last newsletter the Village Hall Management Committee has decided that there will be no increase in village hall rental fees from the beginning of the next financial year. However, there will almost certainly be an increase from 1st April 2011.Hall Christmas DecorationsOnce again we thank Grace Jones for the beautiful Christmas arrangement that was produced for the Foyer over the Christmas period. It was truly spectacular. We also thank members of the Hall Committee for putting up the Hall Christmas decorations and in particular volunteers Jeff Simpkins, Johnny Greenman and Jimmy Greenman for helping us get them up in time for the Mount Zion Christmas Dinner on December 4th and then taking them down again in January.Rural Arts Wiltshire – 10th April Please make a note that there will be a further Rural Arts Wiltshire performance in the Village Hall on Saturday 10th April when the Escape Dance Company will be performing. Further information will be on the Hall and Village Notice boards nearer the time and in the April/May newsletter. Hall Audio Sound System Although the audio sound system supplied with the new hall was generally adequate it did have one or two short comings. Therefore over the Christmas period it has been upgraded to a much better all round audio system with the addition of a radio microphone system. Hall Floor Sweeping Could we remind all hall users that under the terms of hiring the hall it is expected that the floor be swept before the hirer vacates the hall. Further if tables are used then table surfaces should be cleaned before the tables are put away. Hall Bookings In the last newsletter there was a reminder of the dilemma the Hall Booking Administrator faces in knowing how many Saturdays each year to keep free to cater for those village residents who might want to book the hall during the year, but at the same time accepting bookings from new hall users that offer “services” for the general village population by organisers who are not resident within, or part of, the community of Hullavington. Therefore we again suggest that if you as an individual feel that you might like to book the hall in 2010 for a special event, particularly for a Saturday, would you please give it due consideration and try and book as soon as possible.. Access Through the Hall Car Park Chritmas/Boxing Day To comply with our obligation to ensure that the path through the hall car park between Greens Close and Hill Hayes Lane is not claimed as a public footpath, the gates into the hall car park from Hill Hayes Lane were locked for a 24-hour period over the Christmas Day/Boxing Day period. The 200 Club The 200 Club continues to provide an extremely valuable source of income to the Village Hall. There are currently some places available so if you are not a member please consider it. Cash prizes every month. Contact John Greenwood on 01666 837227 for further information.
