Hullavington Village Hall ManagementCommitteeReport Mar/Apr 2009
Village Hall Management Committee AGM Wed 8th July. The AGM of the Village Hall Management Committee will be on Wednesday 8th July 2009 at 7.30pm in the Fenner room. Villagers are most welcome to attend. Please come along if you have thoughts with regard the way the hall is being administered and particularly if you feel that you might like to join the Village Hall Management Committee. It would be good to have one or two younger persons from the village on the committee. It is also the time for the regular hall user groups to consider who should be their representative on the new committee. A draft version of the annual accounts for the year 2008/2009 was presented at the May Village Hall Management Committee meeting and these indicated an operational income surplus against operational expenditure which is excellent news. The full audited accounts will be presented at the AGM on July 8th. Hall operational matters The new village hall is now nearly three years old and begins to show little signs of ware and tare. Inside the hall the entrance foyer needs a fresh coat of emulsion, the wheels of the trolleys need cleaning and oiling, the fabric on many of the chairs needs cleaning and outside the canopy metal work could do with a fresh coat of paint, a leaking gutter fixed and the outside generally tidied. These are just a few examples of little jobs that need attention and it is the intention of the hall committee to organise a few working parties during the month of August. This is the month when the hall is least used. If any user of the hall, or for that matter any body in the village, would like to join one of these working parties then this would be greatly appreciated. Please mention your interest to a user representative or committee member. Further it is time to strip and re-seal the hall floor again but this job might well be done by the publication of this newsletter. Following the purchase of the vacuum machine last year this job is now considerably quicker and easier. Village Autumn Show – Sep 5th – Village HallThe Village Autumn show is one of the special events of the year and full details were in the last news letter. Please have that determination to enter some thing this year. It is always a lovely afternoon. Lights still being left on in the Village HallWe continue to get reports of lights being left on over night in the Hall, particularly the toilet lights. Could we again emphasise the need for users to check these areas in particular before leaving the hall. The 200 Club The 200 Club continues to provide an extremely valuable source of income to the Village Hall. There are still a few places available. Contact John Greenwood on 01666 837227 for further information. Booking the Village Hall We continue to welcome new groups and organisations to the hall and bookings are extremely healthy. Nevertheless there are always a few spare slots. Please refer to the sheet printed in this newsletter for details of hiring costs and booking details.
