Hullavington Village Hall Management

Committee

 Report Sep/Oct 2009

No Increase in Hall Booking fees from 1st April 2010

In view of the current ‘credit crunch’ situation the Village Hall Management Committee has decided that there will be no increase in village hall rental fees from the beginning of the next financial year. However, there will be an increase from 1st April 2011.

Rural Arts Wiltshire – 24th Oct

‘The best yet’ was the comment made by many who attended the recent Rural Arts performance in the Village Hall. The Last Ballade was the story of Frederick Chopin and George Sand, a play with music performed by Michael Lunts. He has toured all over the world with this and similar shows. Nearly fifty people attended the evening and £72 was raised for hall funds.

Once again we thank Anna Durrant for organising the evening along with her husband Simon. They put in a lot of effort to make the evening a success and this was the seventh time that they have organised a Rural Arts Wiltshire show in the hall. Thanks also to members of the Village Hall Committee who gave help on the day.

Hall Bookings

A while back the Committee high lighted the difficulties the booking administrator faces in balancing the need to keep a number of Saturdays free for use by individual village residents to celebrate weddings, anniversaries, parties etc against the increasing demand for the use of the hall by external users on that particular day of the week.  His essential dilemma is how many Saturdays each year to keep free to cater for those village residents who might want to book the hall during the year (for the type of purposes described above) but at the same time accepting bookings from new hall users that offer “services” for the general village population by organisers who are not resident within, or part of, the community of Hullavington. It was agreed that on occasions these events need to be cancelled in favour of those events (such as HarFest, the Village and/or the Church Fetes, and the Annual Show) that can be seen as major community events during the year.

Therefore if you as an individual feel that you might like to book the hall in 2010 for a special event, particularly for a Saturday, would you please give it due consideration and try and book as soon as possible.

Village Autumn Show Sep 5th

Once again we enjoyed a very successful Autumn Show on September 5th in the Village Hall, and we give our sincere thanks to Jebbie and Duddley Hewitt for all their hard work in organising it and all the many other helpers both on the day and on the Friday evening. Once again it was a lovely day with entries holding up well .Once again a big thank you to everyone who made the effort to enter and come along on the afternoon. Without entries there is no show and it is an important event in the village calendar. £157 was raised for Village Hall funds

Access Through the Hall Car Park Chritmas/Boxing Day

To comply with our obligation to ensure that the path through the hall car park between Greens Close and Hill Hayes Lane is not claimed as a public footpath, the gates into the hall car park from Hill Hayes Lane will be locked for a 24-hour period over the Christmas Day/Boxing Day period.

 The 200 Club

The 200 Club continues to provide an extremely valuable source of income to the Village Hall. There are currently some 10 places available so if you are not a member please consider it. Cash prizes every month. Contact John Greenwood on 01666 837227 for further information.
