Hullavington Village Hall ManagementCommitteeReport Nov/Dec2008Increase in Hall Booking fees from 1st April 2009As a further reminder from the 1st April 2009 the fees for booking the village hall will be as follows:
Access Through the Hall Car Park Chritmas/Boxing DayTo comply with our obligation to ensure that the path through the hall car park between Greens Close and Hill Hayes Lane is not claimed as a public footpath, the gates into the hall car park from Hill Hayes Lane were locked for a 24-hour period over the Christmas Day/Boxing Day period. Hall Christmas DecorationsOnce again we thank Grace Jones assisted by Sue Fenner for the beautiful arrangements that were produced for the Foyer. Grace was insistent that they were done despite having to go into hospital for serious heart surgery only a day or two later. We thank members of the hall Committee for putting up the rest of the decorations and in particular volunteers Jeff Simpkins and Johnny Greenman for helping us get them up in time for the Mount Zion Christmas Dinner on December 5th.Lights still being left on in the Village HallWe continue to get reports of lights being left on over night in the Hall, particularly the toilet lights. Could we again emphasise the need for users to check these areas in particular before leaving the hall. Village Picture presented by Jean Giles Early last year Jean Giles, who for many years lived in the village and was a Parish Councillor, presented a picture to the Hall Committee with a view to it being displayed in the hall. She knew that it was a picture taken in the village in the 1950s of a group of ladies, with a couple of gentlemen, on a visit to the Houses of Parliament. She could recognise three or four of the people in the picture but that was all. However, following the picture being looked at by Ron Bye, Bill Mathews and Mary and Renie Greenman most of the people have been identified. It was a trip to the Houses of Parliament in about 1955, of village Conservative Party Members and probably arranged by the then local MP David Eccles. The picture is now in the Foyer of the Hall but if further names and information can be added we would appreciate being informed. The 200 Club The 200 Club continues to provide an extremely valuable source of income to the Village Hall. There are still places available. Contact John Greenwood on 01666 837227 for further information. Booking the Village Hall We continue to welcome new groups and organisations to the hall and bookings are extremely healthy.
