The Continuing work of the Committee

Despite the completion and the handing over of the keys on July 22nd much work continues in equipping and preparing the hall for use. It is expected to be in full operation by the beginning of September.

Booking the Hall

As has already been indicated a hall booking system that can be accessed via the Internet is being developed and more details of this will shortly be available. There will, however, still be the option of booking by telephone as in the past.

Official Village Hall Opening

The official opening ceremony of the new hall will be on Friday 20th October at 7.00 for 7.30pm, performed by our local MP James Gray, when all in the village will be welcome to attend. Official invitations will go out to the many other people from outside of the village who have contributed in some way to the new hall.

Village Fete Saturday 9th July

Beautiful weather helped to ensure that it was a very successful school fete on July 8th. It is normal practice for hall users to split their takings 50/50 between their own group and the village hall.

Sincere thanks to all the Hall Committee members and the Village Hall users who organised stalls and raise a sum in the region of £330 for Hall funds.

Again the fete was a joint event between the Village Hall and the School H.S.A. and we truly thank the H.S.A for the excellent organisation on the day and in particular for donating the entire fete entrance fee to Hall funds, and just as importantly, the village for its excellent support.

Finally a thank you to Mike, our village Coal Merchant, for allowing us the use of his lorry as usual for transporting tables and chairs to the school site. It makes it so much easier being able to transport everything in one journey

Village Autumn Show – Saturday 2nd September 2.30 pm, the new Village Hall

There is still time to prepare those entries for the 30th Annual Village Autumn show and please note that it is back in the village hall, our new village hall. A list of all the show classes once again appeared in the Aug/Sep Village Newsletter so please have a look. There must be something that you can do. A lot of effort is put in by Jebbie and Dudley to make the show what it is so please support them.
