The Women’s Group is up and running again. When it started, the idea was for
women in the village to get toget her
for theatre visits. Last year there were very enjoyable visits to the theatre
and ballet. If, like me, you enjoy these evenings out but never get round to
organising them, this is an opportunity for you. I hope we'll be able to become
a dynamic group with lots of ideas from different people.
On May 20th a group from the village will go to see Stepping Out at the Theatre
Royal.
The next plan is to get a group together to see "You Never Can Tell' by Bernard
Shaw at the Theatre Royal, Bath. It runs from 10th August to Saturday 3rd
September. We plan to get tickets either for Friday 2nd Sept or Wed 31 August.
It's a comedy, and Edward Fox is the leading man. The reviews say:-
One of Shaw's most delightful plays
A glittering comedy of Edwardian manners
One of Shaw's frothiest and funniest plays
Please let me know if you would like to come and, if so, which date you would
prefer. I plan to publicise the trip as widely as possible, so at the moment am
just collecting names of those interested.

Other ideas for trips include opera, ballet and a gliding evening.
I have spoken to the Gliding Club at Aston Down, and have negotiated a special
rate for a Women's Gliding Taster Night either in late June or the beginning of
July on either a Tuesday or Thursday evening. The cost of this, to include a
glider flight with a qualified instructor, would be £20 per head. ( I do have to
declare an interest, as both my husband and son are members of the club.) It
will also be possible to arrange a barbecue for an extra charge.
The next gathering at the pub will be on Friday 3rd June at 7pm. Do come along,
hopefully armed with ideas for things that it would be interesting to do.
The group is open to all women living in the village, and friends are welcome to
join us for the theatre or trips out.
Do let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in either the Theatre
or Gliding trip, either by email,
maggie.dyson@btinternet.com, or on 01666 837358.
