If you might be joining us, it would be very useful if you could let me know (01666837096 or email paulhadley@dsl.pipex.com) as it helps us to plan the logistics.
I understand many of you do not come on our organised cycle rides because you think they may be too long, however; you would like to try a shorter cycle. So we have organised a short cycle ride of 10 miles in total, with an optional extended ride of 20 miles for those who want to do it.
The route takes us from the village along quite and picturesque lanes to Malmesbury . Lunch will be at the Smoking Dog which has a sausage & beer festival with entertainment. There are 30 real ales and over 10 different sausages to choose from. There is a large garden area and they told me children were especially welcome.
The return journey back to Hullavington will again be along quite lanes. For those wishing to do a longer ride, an alternative return route is available taking us back via Luckington and the Gib; which is about 20 miles in total.
For the short 10 mile cycle, Bob & Helen will be manning the support vehicle to carry your spare kit. It will also carry a full set of tools, puncture repair kit, foot pump etc and recover you and your bike if needed.
There are no real hills on the route, but if any of the inclines puff you out, just get off and push, also if you just want to stop to enjoy the view, just stop and do so. There will always be an organiser back marking the group and you will not be alone. We also make frequent stops to let people catch up and enjoy a chat. Remember it is for enjoyment and is not a race and we have plenty of time.
