Hullavington Ramblers

Short Cycle Ride
Bank Holiday Monday 28th Aug

Meet outside the Star for an 11:00 am start

The plan  was to  cycle  to Castle Combe for The Lardy Cake Fair. Unfortunately this has hit  a snag:    there is  no Lardy Cake  Fair this year.  The Landlord at the White Hart told me they had Combe Day in May  this year instead.  He said it was  a good event  as there was no riff raff  from Hullavington to spoil it.  Still there is no need to let that stop us cycling there  on Monday for a good day out.  I have a nice quite route  that stays well off the main roads and is 6.5 miles. So the round trip will be 13 miles. If anyone wants to do more, that too can be arranged and we can revisit  the Route Barry Budd and myself did  during one monsoon.  It's about 20 miles total with hills and  terrific scenery.

Anyone not wanting to cycle  can join us for lunch and enjoy Castle Combe and/or  do the Combe Walk. It should be easy to follow as I marked it with yellow tape a few weeks back.

Meet outside the Star for an 11:00am start.  It's back lanes all the way  so it should be an enjoyable  pedal. As ever, go at your own pace. There will always be someone bringing up the rear to keep those at the back company and to make  sure we don't lose anyone.  If you need to get off and walk, do so and enjoy the view.  We will  take lunch in Castle Combe. I see  the cafe  has re-opened, so there is a good choice; you can even picnic by the bridge over the Bybrook if you want to.
