WEa. Malmesbury
(Memo handed out at Malmesbury meeting on 24
Nov 08)
Without your help, the Spring 2009 course
will, almost certainly, be the last one we run at Malmesbury
The Malmesbury and District branch of the WEA runs course at 3
venues:
Malmesbury,
Hullavington, Sherston
The workload involved in the administering and
running courses at 3 locations is considerable and can no longer
be done by the secretary alone.
At Hullavington and Sherston, there is a regular cadre of the
membership that looks after the admin for the courses. Unless a
similar arrangement can be organised for Malmesbury, then
further courses beyond Spring 09 are highly unlikely
How you can help. The Malmesbury group, in common with
Hullavington and Sherston, can organise itself to take over the
following activities:
* Unlocking the hall and setting it out
ready for lectures
* Clearing up the hall and locking up after lectures
* Providing the course administration; such as: course
register, library box, course feedback forms etc
* Reviewing courses from the WEa catalogue and deciding on
the courses it wants
* Contacting the course tutors to determine their
availability.
* Providing the course details to the Malmesbury group
secretary (David Bridge), who would then take over and
arrange the course with the county organisation
* Providing some active participants to serve on the
Malmesbury and District Committee
If you are interested in helping with the admin
support and/or representing Malmesbury on the Committee, please
give your name and contact details to either David Bridge
(01666502729) or myself (Paul Hadley tel 01666837096), or you
can email us at
wea@hullavington.info or via the new Malmesbury &
District WEa website (see below)
Greater Visibility
In response to a request made by members at this years AGM for
greater visibility of the committee’s workings, we have set up a
website where you can see the courses that are being planned for
the next year or so, along minutes of committee meetings plus
information bulletins. We also plan to include the WEa complete
catalogue of courses and Tutors.
The url for the site is
http://tiny.cc/WEA
Please visit it and let us know what you think.
Is it useful?, how can it be improved? Does it contain all the
information you want?
There are facilities for you to comment via the website.
