So what is the WEa? 

The WEA  puts on a series of courses and lectures on popular subjects; such as: art history and appreciation, music,  literature and many other interesting subjects.  The courses are  for the enjoyment  of learning and to satisfy the curious  mind .  There are no exams to worry about, you just sit back and let yourself  absorb  The venue for the Hullavington group  is Hullavington Village Hall, which is located off The Street in Hill Hayes Lane.   • Membership of the WEa is free and informal.
     
  • By being a member you will be kept informed of all the courses available in our area and you  get to have your say in the type of courses we put on.
     
  • You are under no obligation to attend any of the courses, but  as  a member your opinion will be sought  on the type of courses. So you have nothing to lose by joining  and much to gain.

Courses

 

 

During 2011/2012 we are putting on the following courses:
  • Must the King Die? This course deals with the  the events leading up to the execution of king Charles I and the controversy  surrounding this act of regicide
  • Jacobites.  Who were they?  Are they only associated with Scotland?  Was it unfinished business?
  • The History of British Art,  See how British art followed and then led the European scene
  • Interpreting Paintings. What lies beneath the paint? How to look beyond what you can see
  • The Paintings of John Constable. How much do you know about one of Britains leading painters and where did he stand amongst his contemporaries
  • A Mixed Quartet.    A literature course that looks at 4 important mid 20th Century novels on the theme of mars & Venus .. love & war
