Hullavington Ramblers Walk

The walk is  organised by Alan Roberts  and he advises that  the lunch time pub only serves Sunday Lunches at £7.95p. But there is a beer garden and the weather forecast is good, so you may want to bring your own lunch.
 
Meet & Park:  10:00am at the Small Grain picnic area 2 miles from Calne

Directions: From Chippenham take A4  through Calne. On Leaviing town enter the  40mph zone, take next right turning signposted to Bishops Canings.  When almost at top of hills, turn sharp left into picnic area (small sign, easy to miss).  If you reach the golf club on right, you have gone too far

Details of walk: Spectacular circular walk of 9 miles. Initially undulating along the Wansdyke (ancient Saxon earthwork) which runs along the edge of the Marlborough Downs. Then descend to the Kennet & Avon canal at Horton and along canal to Bishops Cannings . After lunch a short sharp ascent to regain the high ground of the Wansdyke. A slightly more challenging walk than usual, but well worth the extra effort for  the scenic
 views of this beautiful area
