A Quick Look at The Web
Statistics
Over Last 6 months
July to December 2006
The number of visits to the
website has steadily increased over the last 6 months (see bar chart below) from
395 visits during July to 1116 in Dec. Also the number of pages downloaded has
risen from 1994 to 4263 per month. This is go od
news as visits to the site had been languishing and we were thinking of
winding it up, but before doing so decided to freshen it up and see what
happened. We looked for more engagement from the village by way of
materiel, ideas and feedback so that the website would be of interest to more
people. I’m pleased to say we had that engagement and this makes life much
easier for us as our only problem becomes keeping up with the flow of materiel
we are receiving. Please do keep it coming and if we are neglecting any section
of the community please let us know.
I’m well aware we have very little for the younger people in the village, but do
they really want anything? We have not heard from them, but if any youngsters do
want to get involved, please let us know. We can use your input, ideas and
computer skills in widening the appeal of the website.
The website provides us with extensive statistics which you do not see. These
statistics are interesting and, amongst other things, we can track the path
people take as they browse their way around the site; this is useful to
know as it helps us to refine the webs navigation routing. The email address is
not shown so you can’t tell who the person is, but we can track their path
through the site. We can also see what pages people visit. There is one person,
don’t know who, who comes on almost every day just to get the local weather
forecast. On Jan 4th we were visited by someone from Germany (Hamburg), they
entered via the Home page, navigated to
Serendipity, then to that
photo of
Hullavington taken in 1946 with all those WWII aircraft packed on top of each
other, then on to the village street map before finishing on the village hall. Sehr intressant denke ich.
Is this visitor a member of the Luftwaffe? Are Serendipity and the
village hall about to be bombed? We get lots of hits from abroad, some are just one offs and webcrawlers, but many make return visits and some have even contacted us, which
is most welcome.
In case it is of any interest, we have been visited by people from the following
countries:
Thailand, China, Serbia, Belgium, Holland, France, USA, Australia, New Zealand,
Israel, Ireland, Latvia, Hong Kong, Poland, Canada, Greece, Turkey, Norway
